Really really sounds rather awkward and childish, so I don't think that you should use it in an essay.

No, but it does sound rather dramatic. Beware of cluttering your paragraphs with too many adverbs of emphasis and emotion. A few well-chosen adverbs should be enough to get you through an ordinary essay.

In addition to sounding quite dramatic, it sounds as though you might be prone to get extremely upset if you don't get what you want.
If this is related to another thread you recently began, I will answer that people reading applications to undergraduate colleges pay little attention to adverbs and much more attention to why you want to go to that school very much and what evidence you show that you will be a good student and a reasonable member of the student community. It's good not to repeat the same adverb over and over again, but people reading these applications do not admit people because they say they are desperate.
