What happened to Magic Seaweed?
It re-directs to Surfline, which only shows the forecast for 3 days, and looks like a mess.
Can you suggest any alternatives other than Surf Captain, which sucks too, particularly for the east coast?
Thank you ERBB

It's called a BUYOUT. When one company buys another, in this case, to eliminate their competition.
And it happened in 2017. Yes, Surfline has owned MSW since 2017.

There’s a spot I go to a lot that wasn’t on Surfline and MS was always good at reporting. So far seems to be less accurate now at Surfline.

Surfline is flat-out untrustworthy. Plus, the Magic Seaweed extended forecast layout was a lot better.
Oh well. Regress in the name of progress.

I just go check, when I have a free 3 hours. If I feel it, I go, if not I may go for a walk, or a swim.
But I haven't looked at, nor seen a surf forecast since I stopped surf guiding almost a decade ago.
Who cares what internet says, surfing is an IRL thing.
Interwebs is for p*rn, 'arguing' with everyone here and chess.

If it hasn’t turned up just past New Zealand what you see here is junk in my hood when it gets here. If it does turn up, the water temperature (80) and the air temperature (80 - 90) means little to no offshore. Time interval is important here, over 18 seconds tends to wash out.!

Have no problem whatsoever with Surf Captain, which is particularly tailored for the East Coast. Historically far more accurate than Magic Seaweed. Otherwise, surf-forecast.com does a fair job.

fwiw, Surf Captain has a solid pedigree - run by Micah Sklut, the brains behind the old SwellInfo.com site. he sold off SI about 10 years ago (and it subsequently went to sh*t under the new management) and started Surf Captain. he applies a pretty unique skill set in meteorology, oceanography, bathymetry, web development, surfing etc etc etc to generate his forecasts....not perfect, of course, but as good or better than any other EC forecast, imo. ymmv.

Good point, Mexico is not included. I also noticed that Washington and Oregon are out of the picture. Buttttt, if you're between Central Cal. and Southern Cal. it has you covered.
