LEBANON – The NASCAR Cup Series is at Nashville Superspeedway for the Ally 400 on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin earned the pole on Saturday with the fastest lap of the two rounds in the second round of the session.
Defending race champion Ross Chastain will start 20th.
Last week, Christopher Bell dominated the wet-weather portion of the race at New Hampshire en route to his third victory of the season.

Joey Logano wins on fumes at Nashville!
An incredible finish, with Joey Logano holding off a hard-charging Tyler Reddick and Zane Smith to win the Ally 400.
It's going to take 25 more Ally 400s to top that one. Five overtime attempts. Fuel mileage.
Logano is in the playoffs, as he gets off the bubble with the victory. Smith finishes second.
The race finishes after 331 laps with all the OT.
Chase Briscoe ran out of gas coming to the white flag. At least two incidents occurred during the final lap: Martin Truex Jr. crashed in front of Daniel Suarez on the frontstretch, while Chase Elliott spun coming to the checkered flag.
Caution AGAIN!
Josh Berry crashes off of Turn 3, backing into the wall. The field still has not hit the white flag. OT attempt No. 5 upcoming.
Joey Logano held off Chase Briscoe before the caution flag. He stays out along with Briscoe. They are both close to empty. Chase Elliott, by the way, ran out of gas at the restart of the fourth OT attempt.
Truex, Hamlin pit
Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. both pit. Joey Logano and Chase Elliott stay out.
Zane Smith is now the top running driver with a reasonable chance to make it. Smith last pitted at Lap 245.
Kyle Larson is out of gas, and Kyle Busch crashes!
Kyle Larson either does not get going or runs out of gas, and Kyle Busch gets turned. He's done for the day. Wow!
"We're off the reservation," the 11 team tells Denny Hamlin.
Caution again! Another OT attempt coming
Denny Hamlin leads down the backstretch, but there is a multi-car crash down the backstretch. Corey Heim, Harrison Burton and others get tagged and spin across the track. That almost resembled a Daytona/Talladega crash.
"I don't think we can win this race," the 11 team tells Hamlin. Hamlin may have to pit, it appears.
"That's a bummer," Hamlin says.
Hamlin is not the only one who has a gas issue. The top six cars are all on the same cycle. Hamlin won't pit and neither will anyone in the top 10.
Corey Lajoie (8th) pitted last on Lap 245, and Bubba Wallace (9th) pitted before the first GWC attempt.
Ross Chastain is wrecked by Kyle Larson!
Kyle Larson sends it into Turn 1 on the restart, and dumps Ross Chastain in second! Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch and others are involved.
Austin Dillon, Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek and others involved as the field checked up.
What about fuel for Hamlin and the leaders? "It's going to be really close," the 11 team tells Hamlin.
Lap 299: Caution! Green-white-checkered finish!
Austin Cindric spins down the backstretch after contact with Noah Gragson with 2 LAPS TO GO! Caution!
The 11 team tells Denny Hamlin that he has enough fuel for one green-white-checkered attempt.
Lap 294: Denny Hamlin to the lead
Ross Chastain washes up the track, and Denny Hamlin takes advantage for the lead.
Lap 290: Denny Hamlin gets a run then loses ground
Ross Chastain defends the lead by running up into Hamlin's line, and Hamlin has to lift off of a major run through turns 3 and 4. This isn't over.
Lap 285: Denny Hamlin is within range of Ross Chastain
Denny Hamlin is using new tires and a higher line to close in on Ross Chastain. The gap is 0.4 seconds.
Lap 280: Denny Hamlin is coming for the leader
Denny Hamlin is coming for Ross Chastain, cutting a 2.2 second lead down to 1 second.
Hamlin's radio tells him he'll get to Chastain with about five laps to go.
Lap 265: Ryan Blaney's "bed is made" as he needs a final stop under green
Ryan Blaney will have to pit soon from second place. Tough circ*mstances for the No. 12 Team Penske Ford.
He pits with 31 laps to go.
Lap 256: Kyle Busch is the fastest car on the track
Kyle Busch drives past Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs in a three-wide battle, then passes AJ Allmendinger for fourth. Busch is the fastest car on the track.
Lap 249: Ross Chastain to the lead
Ross Chastain leads on the restart. Joey Logano loses several spots after getting out of the groove.
Brad Keselowski is able to continue and meets minimum speed. NASCAR did not mention anything about the Hocevar-Burton skirmish. We'll see about that post race.
Lap 242: Brad Keselowski wrecks
Brad Keselowski cuts across Austin Dillon's nose and spins, backing into the wall in Turn 1. If Keselowski can continue, it will be with major damage to the rear of the No. 6 Ford.
Tough result for Keselowski after a solid day to this point.
Ryan Blaney leads Ross Chastain. Blaney still needs to pit again.
Harrison Burton spins under caution after an incident with Carson Hocevar. Appears to stem from a disagreement, with Hocevar turning Burton after he brake-checked him.
Lap 227: Christopher Bell crashes!
Christopher Bell spins on his own through turns 1 and 2, backing into the wall. He gets going again but is complaining about power issues.
That is a stunning development, though this can happen when one gets bogged in traffic.
"The front end is completely junk," Bell tells his team. The No. 20 Toyota is stalled out on pit road. He is done for the day.
Ryan Blaney stays out
Ryan Blaney stays out while most come in for their final stop. One has to wonder about that decision. Ross Chastain, Joey Logano and Josh Berry pit for two tires.
Corey Lajoie, AJ Allmendinger and Bubba Wallace also stay out. Blaney, Allmendinger and Lajoie will definitely have to pit again.
Christopher Bell will restart 12th.
Lap 217: Chase Elliott spins by himself off Turn 4
Chase Elliott spins on his own coming off of Turn 4 while running in 6th. Caution is out.
"I'm sorry," Elliott says on the radio. "I just got loose..... No, it's not OK. Unacceptable."
The No. 9 Chevrolet will pit. The pit window for the final stop is cracked open.
Lap 215: Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell battle for the lead
Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell have been side-by-side for several laps after the restart, battling for the lead. Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. are awaiting.
Lap 207: Erik Jones in the wall for another caution
That was by far the most entertaining restart of the race, with Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney spreading out across the backstretch before the caution flag flies for Erik Jones in the wall in Turn 2.
Jones' right-front tire is down to the rim, and he may also have another tire down.
Kyle Busch is among a handful of cars who pit to top off on fuel.
Lap 202: Riley Herbst in the wall
Riley Herbst is in the wall in turns 1 and 2, and the caution is out. Corey Lajoie and Herbst were side-by-side, and Lajoie washed up the track. Herbst is done for the day.
Michael McDowell seems to be increasingly concerned about the long-term status of his driveshaft. He cannot get into fifth gear, and his team can't fix it. "We'll just run it until it burns up," the 34 radio tells McDowell.
Lap 192: Christopher Bell continues to lead; Michael McDowell has possible gearbox issue
Christopher Bell leads Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin after another excellent restart. Ryan Blaney is up to fourth.
Michael McDowell is off the pace, reporting a gear issue. He gets back going, but that could be a big issue for the No. 34 Ford for the final 100 laps today.
Kyle Larson has slow stop
Kyle Larson's pit stop is slow as the jackman dropped the jack before the right-rear tire change was complete.
The No. 5 team tells Larson there was some cording on the tire. Larson will restart 12th.

Christopher Bell sweeps the stages by winning Stage 2.

"Stop! Stop!" the 11 team tells Hamlin on the radio after he and Kyle Larson tap each other after the green and white flag. "We're going to win this race." The two drivers were battling for third to the flag.

Kyle Busch has one of the fastest cars on the track
Kyle Busch has surged to 25th and is running lap times similar to the leaders. Busch's 30.68 was among the top 8 times in Lap 173, and that has been a consistent theme since the delay.
Lap 157: Christopher Bell has modest lead over Tyler Reddick
Christopher Bell has built a modest 0.7-second lead over Tyler Reddick. Denny Hamlin passes Chase Elliott for fifth.
Kyle Busch still doesn't sound completely happy with his car, though he does say it is "more consistent". Busch was the free pass during the last caution and runs 29th.
William Byron has to check up after Chris Buescher slides up the track
Chris Buescher slides up a couple grooves while battling Chase Elliott into turn 3, forcing William Byron to check up and lose several spots. The No. 24 is now outside the top 10.
Lap 140: Green flag!
Christopher Bell continues to lead as the green flag is back out. Chase Elliott and Chris Buescher battle for fifth place.
Engines re-fired at Nashville Superspeedway
The engines have re-fired at Nashville Superspeedway. The red flag period will be about 1 hour, 20 minutes long.
Austin Cindric will be sent to the rear for not following NASCAR's directives during the red flag. Unclear what he specificially did.

The drivers have been asked to their cars by NASCAR, so the red flag should be lifted soon.
Track drying efforts well underway
Track drying efforts have been ongoing at Nashville Superspeedway. And the sun is back out, which should help. A reminder: There are lights at Nashville Superspeedway, and the sun should remain out for the next few hours.
Rain at Nashville Superspeedway will lengthen delay
The storm cell is moving out of the area, but it soaked the track so there will need to be some track drying efforts. No wet-weather tires for oval tracks larger than 1 mile, so no repeat of last week's final 75 laps at New Hampshire.
Lap 135: Caution and red flag for lightning in the area
NASCAR puts out the caution for weather in the area. NASCAR officials report lightning in the area, which will trigger a 30-minute lightning hold and a red flag.
The cars are coming down pit road and will be covered. The rain is also closing in on the race track.
Lap 131: Christopher Bell continues to hold the lead
Christopher Bell leads Tyler Reddick off the restart, with storms approaching. Kyle Larson is third, with Brad Keselowski and Chase Elliott also in the top five.
Lap 125: Ty Gibbs spins through the grass
Alex Bowman and Ty Gibbs go for the same spot, and Gibbs spins through the grass. Caution is out.
Lap 123: Christopher Bell rockets to the lead
Christopher Bell takes two tires while Denny Hamlin does not. The result? Hamlin gets behind the slow restarting Joey Logano and is outside of the top 10, while Bell easily clears the leaders on the restart.
Lap 116: John Hunter Nemechek spins off Turn 4
John Hunter Nemechek spins on his own off of Turn 4 and through the grass. His right-front tire is shredding, making a mess of that part of the car.
Chase Elliott says his car is a little better on this run. He is up to 9th. Martin Truex Jr. is up to 7th.
Weather could impact the Ally 400
There is a line of showers and storms closing in on the I-40 line and heading in the general direction of Nashville Superspeedway. It could arrive within the next 45 minutes or less, according to the National Weather Service radar.
Lap 105: Kyle Busch still struggling
Kyle Busch is in 35th and still not running well. He complains about the car "spinning out" on exit, meaning he isn't able to get the power down off the corner like he wants to do.
Lap 97: Denny Hamlin leads field to begin Stage 2
Denny Hamlin just beats Christopher Bell to the end of pit road to take the lead. Joey Logano took two tires after a longer opening run in the first stage. Several cars take the wave around.
Hamlin easily clears Christopher Bell on the restart.

Michael McDowell has yet to pit, but when he does, Christopher Bell will inherit the lead by less than a second over Denny Hamlin. Tyler Reddick has passed Brad Keselowski for what will be fourth.
McDowell will pit around Lap 75, according to the team radio.
Lap 52: Kyle Busch continues to struggle
Kyle Busch slid through his pit stall, costing him time on pit road.
10 laps into this run, Busch is in 30th after Corey Heim passes him for 29th. Busch tells his team that the car is "plowing".
Lap 42: Green flag pit stops underway; Christopher Bell stays ahead of Denny Hamlin
Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin pit for the first time on the same lap, and Bell just edges past Hamlin on pit road.
Green flag stops are underway. The first stage is 90 laps, so these drivers are splitting the stage in half.
Lap times are about 0.5 to 0.7 seconds better for Bell and Hamlin on new tires versus Tyler Reddick, who assumes the lead for now.
Lap 32: Martin Truex Jr. not happy with Austin Dillon
Austin Dillon washes up the track during a battle with Martin Truex Jr. for 15th, and Truex nearly collides with him. Truex makes the pass on the next lap, but he's not happy with the No. 3 Chevrolet.
"What the (expletive)?" Truex said on the radio. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Toyota is running very competitive lap times compared to the top 10.
Lap 25: Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson battle for third
Brad Keselowski passes Kyle Larson for third place, some 3 seconds behind the leader.
Denny Hamlin is about 0.7 seconds behind Christopher Bell.
Lap 16: Christopher Bell passes Denny Hamlin for the lead
Denny Hamlin was having trouble with passing Justin Haley to put the No. 51 a lap down, with Haley throwing a block through the tri-oval and allowing Christopher Bell to pass Hamlin through Turns 1 and 2 on the outside.
"You were better than him every lap until traffic," the 11 radio tells Hamlin.
Lap 7: Josh Berry struggling early
Josh Berry has fallen back to 8th early. He's starting to run similar lap times compared to those around him, but it was not a good start.

Denny Hamlin slides ahead of Josh Berry through turns 1 and 2 to take the lead, with Christopher Bell grabbing second.

Pre-race introductions are about complete, with Chase Elliott among the loudest cheers.

The mostly sunny skies above Nashville Superspeedway are a good sign for now. But it is the summertime, and pop-up storms are always a possibility.
The National Weather Service forecast for the track calls for a 65% chance of precipitation around the time the Ally 400 is scheduled to begin.
